Self-Made Super Heroes

I made these fantastic little dolls for my son this year for Christmas. I bought the blank wooden dolls a Hobby Lobby on sale for $2.99 for all 8! S had been really enjoying watching Spider Man and His Amazing Friends on Netflix, so I made him a little Spiderman, Iceman and Firestar. I also made him a set of the Avengers (plus Wolverine) since they're pretty much everywhere right now and he has been asking questions about the pictures and toys he sees at the store and seems to be pretty interested. I used the same tutorial that I used to make my Nativity Set, and I used images I found on Google as an idea for how to paint them. I also added an extra step and modge-podged them to keep the paint from chipping and the exposed wood from getting dirty.

Homeschooling on a Budget

We finally took the plunge. For the last year and a half we have been homeschooling. We made the decision for a combination of academic and social reasons, and I'm telling you it was so worth it to see a once struggling student be successful and have confidence again. Best Homemade Pizza I've Ever Had!

A few months ago I took a small class about sourdough and sourdough starters. It was all very, very intimidating to me, but I thought I would give it a try. Turns out, once you have a starter, it isn't so difficult after all, just a lot of planning ahead and waiting between steps. So far, I have made artisan sourdough bread, whole wheat sourdough crackers, and this AMAZINGLY delicious pizza crust. Hubster and I both enjoyed the artisan bread, but the kids didn't care much for it the first time around. The second time around they were a little more favorable because it was still warm, but they didn't care for it again once it cooled. Christmas Planning: A "Christmas" Miracle and Getting Started Early

This last Easter weekend we had snow. SNOW. On Easter Weekend. There was a lot of murmuring in our valley about what many saw as nature's cruel joke. That is, until everyone found out about Allanna, a six year old in our valley suffering with cancer. She isn't expected to live until next December, so her family decided to have her last Easter AND her last Christmas over Easter weekend. And we got snow. Isn't God good?
